VisionForge Initiative

Restoring Vision Through Innovation

VisionForge is developing a practical system to help underserved communities receive more accurate prescription eyewear in the field, including solutions for astigmatism.

We use 3D printing technology to create affordable, scalable eyewear solutions for underserved communities on the global stage.

The Challenge

The Global Vision Gap

Over 1 billion people worldwide lack access to basic vision care. In remote regions of El Salvador, access to affordable eyewear is limited, leaving individuals unable to work, learn, or live independently.

In many medical mission settings, patients receive donated eyeglasses that only approximate their prescription. Other field systems offer quick lens fitting, but often correct only nearsightedness or farsightedness. Astigmatism, the most common refractive error in the world, is still difficult to correct on site. VisionForge is working to change that.

Our Solution

A New Approach to Accessibility

We are developing a scalable solution using 3D printing technology to fabricate durable, low-cost eyeglass frames on demand—bringing vision care directly to underserved communities.

We are refining cost-effective frames and lenses and exploring systems that can be implemented on site, aiming to correct refractive error more completely, including astigmatic error across axes.
