Reengineering Vision Access Through Scalable Medical Innovation
VisionForge is developing a more effective on-site system for prescription eyewear in underserved communities. While humanitarian vision efforts often rely on donated glasses or limited snap-in lens systems, these approaches rarely provide accurate correction for astigmatism, the world's most common refractive error. Our work is focused on researching cost-effective methods to improve access to more complete refractive correction for patients in remote regions, beginning with El Salvador.

Born From Experience
This initiative was born out of firsthand experience working with communities where access to basic vision care is not guaranteed. Traditional distribution models are costly, slow, and difficult to scale. We believe there is a better way—one that leverages modern technology to meet people where they are.

Common Questions
Why not just use donated glasses?
Donated glasses can help, but they rarely provide an exact prescription match. In many mission settings, teams do the best they can with what is available, but patients often receive only an approximation.
What is missing from current on-site eyewear systems?
Many current systems allow quick fitting of spherical lenses for nearsightedness or farsightedness. However, they often do not address astigmatism with the same level of accessibility on site.
Why is astigmatism important?
Astigmatism is one of the most common refractive errors and affects people of all ages. Without proper correction, it can reduce quality of life, productivity, and learning outcomes. Children and the elderly are most disproportionately affected.
Is VisionForge already operating in the field?
VisionForge is currently in development and research. We are working to build a practical, scalable model for future field implementation, formed to bring about public and social good.
Where We Are Today
We are currently in the early development phase, building partnerships, refining our technology, and preparing for pilot deployment in El Salvador.
